Shifter is tight

I just found this sight and am needing some help with my excursion. I have a 2002 excursion limited v-10. The shifter is very hard to move, but it will move. Any ideas?
Some background on the vehicle, we just got it back after sitting for 2 year because we were making payments on the work that was needed done on it. We are able to do minor mechanical things but major stuff we can't do because it's not allowed where we are living. It came with a 4" lift on it so I fell in love with driving it. It's just hard when the shifter is like it is now. It's not lining up either with the RND but I can deal with that, I just need it to not be so hard to move.

I had the same problem. Mine turned out to be the transmission range sensor. its the the drivers side of the transmission pretty easy to replace.

I would first disconnect the cable at the tranny to see if it shifts easy. If it does replace the DTRS as mentioned above. But if it still shifts hard then the shift cable is likely the cause.

Welcome to the EX forum!

Did any of the work that was done to it involve the transmission, shifter or steering column?
