if i was you I'd drop in a Newer model EFI 351W with MAF. That way you can go with much whiled cams then ya can with a EFI with MAP. Because your looking at a lot of work to Convert your truck back to the older DS systems needed to work Carb'd Motors. Once I went EFI i never looked back to the Carb's. Check in the 87 up Board there has been a few in there who has Made the Swap from 300 I 6's and 302's to the 351W. They love the power output of the 351W EFI. Yes you'll be able to keep your Tranny with a 351W upgrade. the 300 I6, 303 and 351W all use the same bellhousing boilt pattern. You'll just need a new flywheel
