hi i have just rebuilt a 400 and put on an edelbrock performer intake and i got my motor in and it didnt leak any oil fer prolly 50 miles then it started leaking out by the distribitor and found out its coming from the front of the intake......so i took my intake off and put on new gaskets and put extra silicone on and it still leaks out the front... is there anything else i could try? has anyone had trouble with the edelbrock performer intake? thanks kevin gross
PCV stands for Positive Crankcase Ventilation.
The PCV valve sits in one valve cover, connected to the intake manifold, and meters the air drawn out of the crankcase. The air drawn out one side is replaced by fresh air coming in through the breather filter connected to the other valve cover. This helps keep the blow-by and condensation contaminants out of the oil. When the PCV valve or hose gets plugged (or is missing), blow-by pressure can build up in the crankcase, putting strain on the seals and gaskets. Excessive blow-by can overpower the PCV valve, creating problems by pressurizing the crankcase.
Hope this helps.
p.s. If you use RTV for the end gaskets, it's best to let them sit overnight (if possible) to cure before starting the engine.

I noticed on my perf 400 the crush was excessive on the plastic ends seals they supply with the valley pan set. Set manifold dry, observe gap. Discard plastic and use a thick bead of RTV Ultra Black slightly thicker than what you observed earlier.... allow to skin before assembly. Of course, surfaces must be clean and oil-free. GL
that explains errthing then haha.....i plugged that thing cuz i didnt think it did anything......so i need to get a new one of them then do i have to run a hose from there to the intake and take a plug out of the intake ......er what do i gotta do ....thanks again keag
