i posted this in the wrong forum just now....anyway, i am trying to get heat from my 1986 f150...302, no a/c....fan works fine, heater doors work, but no heat...mouse nest is disposed of...little sgwiggly wire thing on front of heater box has been replaced....no heat, just cold air...any ideas?
Check to see if both of them are getting hot. If you have a cold one, your core is probably plugged. unhook the hoses and (I use the garden hose) hook it to the cold one and run water thru the core (backwards). You should see water come out the other hose. When doing, you don't need the water on high, it should only take a little. I usually just hold the water hose to the heater hose and have someone turn it on. Once it clears out I go back and forth a couple times to make sure it's clean.
There may also be a control valve in one of the hoses. Make sure water can flow thru it too.
i had a similar problem.......... had verry little heat but lots of air movein. I had to pull the dash and i discovered the control throw arms were broke and the cables was dangling. so i turned the levers to all hot and put everything back together and works better now. bakes me out in about 10 minutes even with all the holes in the cab
