Does anyone know of a parts supplier in Canada that sells Carter M60185 or Spectra SP 1038 MP mechanical fuel pump. (for 1980 F350 400cu. in.) I've tried the usual suspects, and some have no-name pumps, but I've had bad luck with those. There is a listing on Amazon.ca for $$92.00 Is Carter really not sold in Canada anymore?
If you have Napa they carry carter pumps. To be honest though, I've put three new carters on the same engine since November. No way a cheap no name pump could have much sorrier record than that. The first didnt pump. The second ran good for a week and then started spraying fuel from around the seam where the two pieces fold together. And the third is running now but I suspect it's not exactly right. If they werent giving them to me under warranty, and they weren't a 10 minute job, I'd have an edelbrock micro electric pump on it.
I ordered one online last week from NAPA. I got a call and was told that it was unavailable from NAPA. I called Carter this aft. and was told NAPA carries their whole line. The fellow even gave me the NAPA part number. So I called NAPA back and was told that they could get it but was coming from Winnipeg, and delivery would take 4 days. If this one fails, I'll be looking at electric too.
I agree with the poor quality. Someone posted here awhile ago that the neoprene diaphragm has been replaced with a cheaper rubber product. Thanks for the reply..
