Idle increases and decrease after throttle blipped
Hi, I was hoping someone could help out.My 1977 F-100 with a 351m and a 2150 carb will idle great and drive without any drivability issues. But once in a while it goes into high idle, then I’ll blip the throttle and the idle comes back down. I’m still a carburetor novice, but I’ve taken care of any vacuum leaks I’ve had, adjusted the mixture screws and the idle speed. Any idea of that it could be, any help would be greatly appreciated.
Manual or electric choke? Not sure if it's choke related but since you push the throttle and it goes away it sounds like a choke issue of some sort. Someone more knowledgeable about the 2150 will chime in. My 390 with a 2150 has heat stove lines coming from the manifold that act to deliver warm air and set the choke. Does this happen soon after start up or at random times throughout the day?
When it's warm make sure your choke is all the way open. if it isn't adjust it if it is then check to make sure you're off your high idle cam. adjust that as needed. I'm not familiar with your 2V but sometimes here is a screw and sometimes you have to bend rods or tabs .

Thanks for the info. I believe the choke opens up all the way, I'll check tomorrow. If the carb comes off the high idle cam, is it possible for it to go back on it while I'm driving it. again sorry for the ignorance just new to carburetors.

its electric and heat stove operated, it has an electric terminal on the choke and a small tube going down towards exhaust. happens randomly throughout a drive
