The folks who know about this kind of thing don't usually frequent the "New Member Introductions" forum. It looks like you've started a thread in "Pre-Power Stroke Diesel (7.3L IDI & 6.9L)". I'll go check it out after this.

Welcome aboard!

Maybe but I doubt it. You might want to ask that over in the other thread and see what some experts say.

Can you feel the miss, or is it just a sound?

A few quick tests you can do:
Measure exhaust temps at each runner with an infrared thermometer, and see if there's a cylinder that shows a markedly different temperature than the others.
Loosen injector nuts one at a time while engine is running. RPM should drop each time. If it doesn't, you have a problem with the fuel system for that cylinder.

If you have a miss and it isn't fuel related, do a compression or leakdown test to figure out which side it's on. There are other tests you can do, but there's not much benefit because the head and gasket are coming off anyway.

You mentioned that you installed injectors. Were they new? Re manufactured injectors from the parts store have questionable quality. The best injectors to buy are from these suppliers:

fuel injection injection pump injection pump rebuilding injection pump repair, Conestoga Diesel Injection Fuel Injection and Turbocharger Rebuilding. The Moose Pump people! Willow Street, PA Home

apparently they changed their name from L&J to diesel Logic... quite a few complaints on them under both names....

https://www.bbb.org/us/fl/jacksonvil...752/complaints

Not saying you got a bad set as I have no way to test them from here...

EDIT: looking at old history you find this...... https://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/L-...3,35_IM416.htm

Good luck getting them tested. I took a set of injectors to a local diesel shop that said he would pop-test them. After he had them for a week I returned and he just wanted to sell me new injectors. Thankfully, he didn't charge me anything. I'm convinced he didn't do anything to my injectors. I brought them to him clean so he didn't even have to degrase them.

FWIW, I bought a set of new parts store injectors and they've done a fine job. It was about $300 for a set with a 3 year warranty.

So it looks like the reman injectors are the problem that seems to be the where most of my ford brothers are leaning.myself included. It’s running worse with the remans in it.

You have 16 injectors now, right? You can always fabricate your own pop-tester with a bottle jack. Hopefully you could salvage enough internal parts to make a good set of injectors.
