I have a 94 F350 with the 460. It's had a few minor changes to it (most of which I'm not 100% aware of) and has dual exhaust system.
It's been running smooth for the most part but I was wondering if there would a point in getting it tuned properly and if it would have any long term benefits? I'm not looking to increase performance really just smooth out how it runs, increase fuel economy a bit and possibly see if there's anything going wrong with it.
I'm new to the mod world and I'm just not sure how it works.
In general, tuning is more important/beneficial the more mods you have. It doesn't sound like you have very many mods and it doesn't run poorly so you'll likely see minimal gains from tuning.
I just started tuning, stock 351w speed density, completely stock engine.
Using QuarterHorse ($250) and TunerProRT(free), I am noticing improved throttle response, feels like more power, and better fuel economy.
Before tuning, everything mechanical and electro-mechanical(sensors) must be in perfect working order, other wise you'll be chasing your tail trying to tune.
Also, if your ECU and engine are already "in-tune", you will notice zero benefit.
