Good morning, I have a Furrion wireless camera on my 5th wheel and i was wondering if there is a way to use the aux camera (like a receiver module that can be plugged in) instead of the furrion monitor.
On our fiver, we just have the wired Ford camera mounted so I'm not really sure. I believe Nav-TV (https://navtv.com) had a product that let you hook up your own AV inputs into the truck's screen, but I don't know whether or not the Furrion's offer a AV output for that use.
I have the latest Furrion with the 7" monitor, it will support 6(give or take) camera's. I leave the monitor on the whole time I'm towing. Made a weighted plate that fits in the cutout on top of the dash and use the suction cup mount.
After bumping dead-on in to a hidden lamp post (rain caused me to skip the normal walk thru) -
I installed a wireless Furrion to my pre-wired fifth wheel, 5" I believe; it supports 4 (?) cameras.
In order for it to work your headlights must be on.
As I don't like the top view down (grainy) view it provides I regret the purchase. Maybe the next owner will pay a premium for that option.
I'm back to walking the area and using my mirrors.
Quality-wise, I'm happy with the wired Ford camera. Here's how it looks:
It's great for this kind of parking, where I just want to see how close I am to my garage, or maybe a pole or something. But for things like tree branches, etc, you'll still want to GOAL (Get Out And Look) as it's a bit of a fish-eye lens, so the corners of the camera aren't exact.
The FORD camera for the fifth wheel comes in a package. It includes a trailer TPMS kit that adds the trailer tires to your internal F350 TPMS readings on your instrument cluster. The camera is added to your internal FORD screen as AUX on your existing screen. This package is customer installed and wired. So you must add the wiring in your trailer, mount the camera, install the TPMS in the tires and add the repeater module at the bumper. I ordered it as part of the truck as an option but you can buy it from your FORD dealer parts dept. I hope this helps you.

This is exactly the type of info I was looking for, thank you. Can I install the camera and wait to install the TPMS until I replace the tires and not lose functionality of the camera?

Yep. And in fact, you don’t even need to install the TPMS at all. Ford sells three different versions of the kit:
1) camera and TPMS
2) TPMS only
3) camera only
So, if you want just the camera, you can buy just the camera now, and add on the TPMS later, (but at a higher overall cost than both pieces at once).
However, I highly recommend the TPMS. Saved my bacon earlier this summer when it gave me the heads up one of my tires dropped from 65 lbs to 8 lbs and I was able to get it on the shoulder of the highway before the tire shredded.
The TPMS replace the valve stems, so you do need to pop the tires off to install them. My local RV dealer was something like $14 a tire for the job, basically just the shop rate for labour.

I would remind you that the trailer camera is a wired camera that you must install the wiring thru your rig and a receiver plug at the bed/bumper . On the Ford web site for building, it says this, "Rear Camera - Individual Trailer TPMS/Customer-Placed Trailer Camera" and it shows a price of $750 Canadian dollars as I am in Canada. I ordered it as part of the build and it came separately to the dealership. I am sure you can order it from the parts department. I have not installed either part of this package but I will. I know I wanted it and did not want to wait and find they had discontinued it. I am sure you can only install either part of the package but there is a receiver unit that gets the signal that must be installed. Good luck.
That y's in with the cord from the Camera and the combined cord then has to run to the plug in the bumper. It's getting this cord to the bumper that's going to be a pain with a fiver. On ours, we ended up just having it run in a loom on the outside of the skin:
For now, I've just been drapping it over the tailgate and using the bumper plug, but I picked up the kit from Nichols Manufacturing to move it to the bed (https://nicholsmanufacturingandweldi...5th-wheel-only). It requires drilling a hole in the bed though, so I've been holding off on the install until I have a good amount of time to do it right, clean, and without the wife seeing me drilling holes in the new truck.
I love my Ford trailer TPMS and camera. It is a pricey option but the fact that it is fully integrated is worth every penny to me. I have no intrest in additional monitors and cables in the cab. My install is super clean. I bought the Nicols kit (box and cable extension...also a bit pricey) and the install was very easy. Only one cut with a hole saw to expand the existing hole for the in bed 7-pin connection that comes with the fifth wheel prep. Hardest part was finding the capped off harness above the spare tire. No need to run the cables on the outside of the skin. Just remove any screws holding it up and slide a piece of 1 1/2" flat bar from the pin box to the front storage compartment. Twist it sideways to create a pocket between the skin and the frame. I pushed a wire through the pocket, tied it to the cable/connectors and pulled them through then reinstalled the screws. Took a little finagling but really pretty simple. All connections and the TPMS wireless receiver are out of the weather in the front storage compartment. Cabling is run through the frame and up the rear ladder. If I didn't tell you it was there, you'd never notice it.
My 5th wheel trailer is coming with a wireless camera out back. I'm thinking I'll go with the Ford
TRAILER SENSOR KIT - CAMERA AND TPMS ONLY $725.00 (list) Part No LC3Z-1A189-D
I'm going to PM JD'sBigredv10 (above) and ask him for more info as I'm new to all this and can use others' expertise. Please post if you have some suggestions regarding this especially since his post is almost 2 years old.

Is the fiver coming with a camera, or just “backup camera prepped”? Most are just prepped, some are currently shipping with a camera. If you get one that’s shipping with camera, then that usually also includes the screen and everything for a complete kit, no point in throwing extra money at something if the trailer already comes with it.
