I read that if you pull the wire harness off your MAF and the truck doesnt die then your MAF is dead. Well I did and it didnt so I guess my MAF is fried. I of course wanted the original Motorcraft part so after searching parts, ford, com over and over and it acted like it didnt know what I was talking about I called them only to be informed that they dont carry them for my old truck anymore. Do any of you experts know what replacement brand I can trust? Im of course leary as hell about going into Oreillys or Autozone and taking whatever chunk of plastic and wires they hand me. The MAF currently on the truck is F8LF-12B579AA, the girl at parts, ford, com said the original was F8LZ-12B579AA, Helllp plz

The way I understood it was that if you unplug the MAF and it keeps running it means it has been bypassed because its gone bad. I would think it should at the least significantly alter the way its running as the MAF does have a lot to do with the air fuel balance and mine showed no change when unplugged. Yes the truck was idling way high for a bit and then started running rough, I changed the IAC and the idle came down but the choppy rough acceleration remains. Whats strange is that sometimes it smooths out and runs fine but then it comes back, sometimes so bad it makes the dash rattle, sometimes only mildly choppy---weird. Im getting no check engine lights what so ever.
