If I were you, I would get a paint protection film on at least the bumpers. My same colour truck as yours had 30 or so rock chips in the front bumper within a week.
I went with the premium line x. Yes I’m definitely going to do the paint protection clear film on bumper. Already have a dang scratch on bumper right in front of the drivers tire. Tried touch up paint but I suck at that. 🤦🏼*♂️
Do you know about adding dielectric grease to the wire harnesses under the box on/near the frame rail? Could potentially save you some headaches.
Hi TeddyD,
can you tell more about that? I have some silicone staying on the shelf for cases like that.
Should I grease all the connectors I can find or some specific ones known to have issues?
I've heard about it but curious where all it needs to go. Do I need to unplug stuff and add dielectric grease or are there plugs under there just open for accessories that need to be greased? Pics would be great if you have any or know a thread with some. Thanks!
You will have to drop your spare tire. You will see two wire harnesses attached to the frame rail of the truck. Those 2 have to be pulled apart and add dielectric grease. You will see that there was none used. Major source for electrical gremlins. Also, you should remove your 7/4 pin trailer harness from behind the bumper and add grease to that. If your truck came with the trailer camera, you can just remove the 7 pin adapter and use that one. You will see that the trailer tow camera/7pin connector came packed with dielectric grease. It takes about half an hour to an hour but it is time we’ll spent. There are also some connectors in the side mirror housings that have been known to cause problems but those are a nightmare to get at. Just a few problems have been cause by those. I had my dealer do them when I had to replace both mirror signal lights because of cracks from rocks. Correction, I asked my dealer to add grease, they said they did but I doubt it. lol.
Been lurking on here for a while now. Some mighty nice vehicles and info on here!! I finally pulled the trigger on my first diesel this past Friday. Holiday ford in Whitesboro Texas was definitely worth the drive from Arkansas! Anyways looking forward to many good conversations and much more info on here now that I have a real truck. 😜 Gonna try to attach a pic or two. Love the dark Marsala interior! Windows tinted today with ceramic Llumar CTX. 15% front and 50% over factory rear.
It’s always fun and exciting to go to another State to purchase a new vehicle and drive it back home after the transaction especially if the deal was too good to pass up.
