FORD is giving me a new Engine for my 2018 F150 5.0 4x4. They have "FIXED IT" 4 times in the 7 weeks they have had it but it keeps making a knocking noise and stalls out. They have had it in their shop now for just under 7 weeks. My wife is handling it so I don't stroke out or something...I'm patient but not 7 weeks patient.
I have a Fall fishing trip so it's gonna get a 4k mile shakedown test drive in September hauling a 5800 GVWR Travel Trailer and 3 Grown *** Bass Hunters.
I'll have a full update with the official description from the service manager. We are driving one of their F150 trucks until ours is good to go.
I'd make super sure the new motor fixes it before taking it on a trip like that. Three grown bad *** hunters will get worn out pretty quickly pushing that thing with a trailer on it.
On the bright side, it will have seven weeks less mileage on it than otherwise, and a new engine, when you get it back.
Were gonna finds out tomorrow morning. My brother in law is a Ford mechanic and has been giving me advice on what to ask the service manager. The local Tampa Bay Ford dealer has a good reputation and has been giving regular updates so I feel good about that part so far.
It's a good thing I have AAA+ Me and my buddies are old farts now so pushing vehicles is in the rear view mirror!
I hope they get the issues worked out with the new 5.0. It would be a shame to permanently lose the V8 option because of engineering mistakes (and/or guys in suits who pushed it to production before it was ready, and pushed for the plated cylinders to save money).
