Power Mirror Switch Without Power Mirrors
I’m a bit puzzled by something I discovered while fixing interior problems in my Excursion.
The side mirrors wouldn’t respond to the switch on the driver door, so I figured I must have a bad switch. After replacing the switch, and seeing no change, I began testing power at the connector, and everything seemed to check out - power and ground to the switch, and power going out to the appropriate wire with switch operation.
Still no no response at the mirrors, so I figured there was a problem at the mirror end - bad motors perhaps?
so I pull the mirrors off to check, and there are no wires going out to the mirrors, and no wires coming in from the mirrors.
So so if this truck has manual side mirrors, why does it have the switch inside? Could it have had new mirrors and doors fitted at some point? Could it have had the interior panel replaced?
The truck is a 2000 Excursion Limited, which I figured would have the power mirrors as standard equipment. How big an issue would it be to add power mirrors? Anyone have experience with a quality aftermarket?
As far as aftermarket mirrors, there's tons out there. some like the cheapy e-bay ones, some like the 1A auto versions, and some insist on OEM. I picked up a set of aftermarket cheapy mirrors so I can get the later model real estate (size) while I can't justify the expense of 11-16 power everything OEM mirrors as they can get quite pricey, if you can even find them.
