Your Tint Cost

I just had the 2 front door glass done with Llumar CTX25, cost $175. I'm actually disappointed and trying to figure out what to do. It has a green hue that I dont care for. I was told it doesn't look that way before being applied and that it's taking on the green color in the glass.

Just to be clear you did front two only and the back was untouched? If yes, does it still make a huge difference in temperature and UV rays since the back half of the cab has no protection? One of my biggest dilemmas is that if I get ceramic on the front half but do nothing to the back half, I feel im wasting money since the heat will come in through the back. That's why I feel if i'm doing only the front three windows, I should get the mid tier metallized films.
I'll add that I was qouted $230 for the 2 fronts using Xpel by one shop, cant recall wich one.

I presume the back 3 windows are stock, no clear tint on the back? Do you still feel a significant difference in heat and UV rejection? Thanks

When your truck comes from the factory with the rear windows tinted, it’s just for privacy tint. It does not provide UV protection or increased heat blocking factors. You will need to add tint to those windows to help block UV rays, and keep it cool. The new ceramic tint was designed to give the heat reduction and not use the dark tint color as a heat blocking agent. It works amazing for classic cars that want the heat reduction but don’t want the look of a dark tint job or for people that want legal tint. Ceramic tint is 3X as expensive as mid grade tint jobs. All tint has some form of dye in it and that’s to get the dark color. Some purple some green but the cheaper the tint the more you’ll see the color. 3M has a history of doing well in making tint. I have their middle grade CS “color safe” tint which is guaranteed not to fade with lifetime warranty BUT I have noticed it has a slight cloud appearance to it which bugs me. I believe I paid around 300 bucks for all 5 windows to be done.

Yes I agree u get what u pay for, tint has been on the truck for a year and a half, still looks like the day i put it on...Im just not willing to pay big money for a simple plastic film...and install was easy with a few careful steps!

My local place does it for $60 a window with some Llumar film. I don't know which one, but they do offer a "premium tint" for $75 a window which is Suntek CXP.
When I had my Mustang (2014) I did all the windows in 35% and it was $225.I don't recall the brand, but that tint was good for the 3 years I had it. No issues at all. I want to assume it was Llumar as it was the same shop, but in a different location. (Shop was destroyed when a car went through it in 2016).
With my truck I wanted to match the rear, they say 20%, also Llumar, but I don't know the quality as NY now requires a tint check as part of the inspection. So I have to rip it off every year. I may consider doing the premium on the sunroof as the heat that thing generates stock is crazy.

It does make a little bit of difference with heat reduction. AC cools the cabin down quicker. Yes my back 3 windows are stock tinted.

Complete Xpel XR Plus on my 2019.
Front Windshield @70% with a XR Plus Brow @5%
All other windows at 20% which includes over factory tint.
Total cost with forum discount from XPel was $870.00
Keep in mind the windshield was $275.00 to do alone. I will never own another vehicle without the entire windshield tinted. It makes a drastic difference in heat/glare inside the cab.

The CXP is the carbon series... I would think the "upgrade" would be to Suntek CIR which is the ceramic series... or to the LLumar Formula 1 Pinnacle series.

I think what changes the price more than anything is the installer.
I've had the same film applied at 2 different places at different price points and the quality of the install was noticeable. Not only the install but the care that was taken while installing and cleaning up.
I no longer go to the cheaper of the 2...
Rather pay more for quality work.

Don't know brand but everything is ceramic for UV protection.
Windshield - 50%
Front Side Windows - 20%
Rear Side Windows - 70% (for UV and to not go darker than factory)
Rear Window - 70% (same as rear sides)
Sunroof - 70%
$500. It still gets hot in there. Don't know how much difference the ceramic makes over standard, but it was only $100 more for the whole truck so I figured why not. My last truck was 5% all around with 25% windshield (bought it that way), and it was terrible. Never again.
