I'm looking at (2) 2006 F350 DRW 6.0 one with 245k and one with 208k miles. One is supposedly completely bulletproofed the other kinda bulletproofed, lots of sinister stuff 7nder the hood ( no egr delete but upgraded egr and not new head gasket and studs. The other does but 245k miles. Trucks have been used for pulling not putzung around town. Both trucks had the work done 40k miles or so ago.
Good or bad idea to buy one, priced around 15k.
$15k might be a little steep but it depends on the condition of the rest of the trucks. That being said I worked on a '05 that has 457k miles on it this morning. I told the owner to retire it. There's more than engine concerns. This truck needs rear end work, transmission is acting funny, and the engine has a lot of blowby and is on its last leg. Don't just count on motor, look at condition of steering, transmission, rear, transfer if it has it, rust, brakes, and all other wear components.
It may be a diesel that will last 500K miles, but every thing else on the truck will be well wore out before then.
15K all depends on where you live. In Calif, its probably a good price, depending on the rest of the truck.
You say they were used for pulling? That puts some wear on the transmission, gears, bearings. Suspension parts.
