I own a '03 F150 XLT 2wd. When I first drive the truck in the morning, I feel and hear a strange rubbing sound coming from the front end. It almost feels like the tires are rubbing, but that's not the case. I can't feel it in the steering wheel, just hear it and feel it in the floorboard. Anyone had this expreience or know what it might be. I took the truck into the dealership and they couldn't find anything. It surprisingly goes away after driving the truck for an hour or so...
my 97 150 4x4 does the same thing, for a while I was begining to think one of my wheel barings was going to freeze up. If you find out what this is please post-
Thanks
I had a similiar sound coming from my r/f tire. When I checked it out I found out the someone had placed two spacers behind one of my pads and it had slipped down. The noise that I was hearing especially on turns was it rubbing on the unworn portion of the rotor.
I had already bought some new pads, so when I replaced them I placed only one spacer behind each pad( they came w/the pads).
But a new question: I've been told that ceramic pads are hard on the rotors thus you will be subject to replacing the rotors sooner....... T/F?

Likely it is your pitman arm making noise. We have our truck squeek. It may be in other places on the non greasable steering components. Nothing to worry about. The dealer will replace it for you but only with a new pitman arm that will have no grease fitting either. If you end up replacing the pitman arm, do it yourself or have it done at an independant shop using a now available (supposedly) replacement component that is greasable. I think Moog makes it.
