I have a Class C E450 Thor 22B motorhome. We would like to put a slightly larger tire on it for better gravel road clearance.
Stock size is a 225/75R16 I have seen online that a 235/85R16 will fit the rear dual wheels. One shop I looked at in anchorage didn't want to try anything different from stock because of problems in the past. Anyone with real-world experience?
8.8" vs. 9.3" section width--so you lose 1/2" between the duals. Not sure how much space you have, but they must not touch.
While we don’t know the offset or backspace figures for the wheels, I’d bet that half inch reduction in DRW spacing would be half of what is stock. Doing this to help drive gravel roads invites a rock getting lodged between dual sidewalls and rubbing holes in one or both tires. There’s no fixing sidewall damage. Stu
