I'm currently uploading photos from my phone to laptop to start a "build thread." Is that something I can create here in the regional AZ section of this site? Or is there somewhere on the site dedicated to documenting builds instead? I just didn't want to start posting things in the wrong place. (I followed a PM link when I first started for introductions, & somehow my response ended up in the 99 to some other year truck forum - trying to be more careful!)
In the "General" section their is a "Projects" thread specifically set up for that. I see projects posted in a lot of the other threads as well so don't think they are too particular on here.
Thank you. If it's common for others to post builds outside of the general thread, I'll try posting here & see if anyone objects. I'd rather stay with the folks in the area here in AZ - we'll see how it goes!
I appreciate it. I'll check out your build thread, too. I'm missing some of the earlier photos I had on my previous phone (dropped it in the pool - alcohol may have been involved). I've had the truck since I was 14. It was what I learned to drive on & my only transportation for about 10 years before I parked it 15 yrs ago. A lot of what I've done this time around has been a first experience for me: pulling the engine & trans myself, removing frame rivets, pulling the cab, installing springs, spindle bushings, et cetera - so I'm far from an expert, but seems to be moving along. I started disassembly about mid February of this year. I'm managing to on the road, but unfinished, e.g., unpainted, no body work done, no interior stuff done, by 02.2020.
Stage 2 will be body, paint, "outside stuff," but I'm not sure I want to have that conversation with my wife yet, ha. She has got to be the most patient person on the planet for putting up with me - I'm mentally 12 & never grew out of the Tonka toy phase.
I'm still mainly in cleanup and mockup mode, but have the Crown vic front end installed and have the Explorer rear end and A/C box mocked up and ready to go. Will have to find someone who can do some welding before I finalize the front and rear. A/C will finalize when I get the engine rebuilt and put in, but that's after some paint..... and who knows what else in between.
Found your build thread. That's looking good - a lot of work! I can't wait to have AC & insulation. I think that's half the reason I parked mine. The other half was the standard 3 speed with 3.92 rear end - I want to use freeways!
