Oil pressure sending unit issues
Well evidently the PO stripped the sending unit because the wrench just slipped the minute I tried to turn it.
I'm going to see if I can get a pipe wrench into this tight **&^&*^ spot and get it freed.
Anyone have any other tricks in getting it removed?
(screwdriver thru it and try spinning it? I'm thinking it will just end up ripping the top off but I might be able to get a grip with something than once the bell is off?)
Thought about leaving well enough alone and was going to use a spot next to the fuel pump to install my other gauge.
It's a pretty tight spot as well and the sending unit will not fit in that location.
I'm thinking about adding a 4+" nipple there and maybe a 90 to get clearance for the sending unit.
Would that work or would the 90 elbow mess with oil pressure reading?
It still might not work but I'm just thinking right now.
I think the only other spot I can install the sending unit is get an adapter for the oil filter adapter but that's one too many adapters for me.
Not to be stupid but if there isn't oil flow where sending units install, how does oil go all over the place when the nylon lines break in the mechanical pressure gauges?
But that's kind of the point of my thread, looking for tips if the channel locks/pipe wrench can't get in there to bite it enough.
That was the problem that caused all the fires and the huge recall for Ford for the cruise control switch. It was a pressure switch on the master cylinder, and it would start leaking internally and the brake fluid would get into the electrical part of the pressure switch and cause it to overheat and catch fire. It didn't help that this was a hot all the time circuit either.
