Split rim/ Widow makers welded?

Can the Split rim/ widow maker wheels be welded solid? By a professional welder not me of course.

assuming you want to mount a tire on finished product ??? I doubt that bead would stretch enough to be mounted. is there a drop center on the rim ?

Not sure what you mean by drop center. Could you explain?

You can reweld the centers into modern drop center tubeless trims. There is a thread on this and I will search it out later.

A drop center rim is exactly what the name implies. It allows a car or light truck tire having a flexible bead to fall into the drop while the bead elongates and stretches over the rim lips. No widow maker has a drop center, although some were termed semi-drop center. The rim lips of a widow maker are too tall in most cases, and truck tire beads too rigid, to allow a tire to squeeze past without ruining the tire bead. Stu

I can't find the exact thread I want.

This one discusses, + and -, Stockton Wheel. Things must have changed there or they wouldn't still be in business. Any input on them?

Last I heard Stockton Wheel was still in operation under new management. Frank, the prior owner, passed away. Having heard nothing negative about them since Frank’s passing, I take that as an indicator of where the problem was. Stu
