Are you Ready for a Self Driving Bronco or F-150?

Ford is hard at work developing the best self-driving trucks. There is great promise in these technological marvels, but events show the tech is not yet ready to take you fishing.

 

I think there's a lot of promise here... But I think it'll be a long time before these kinds of vehicles are commonplace, to say the least. There's a lot of functionality to submitting an order for a load of drywall or something, and having a truck just go get it on its own. Fleet vehicles will likely be first.

 

I have to say that it looks like Ford is becoming a finalist in the bidding process to replace mail delivery vehicles (LLV's) for the USPS with a Transit chassis.

Ford has been bold enough to tell the USPS that they can develop an autonomous Transit that will enable the letter carrier to sort the mail while the vehicle is moving to the next park point. USPS is salivating.

 

That sounds like a great use for autonomous vehicles. Wouldn't surprise me that Ford is leading with the tech.
