I have a 63 F-250 with a 292
( http://dopey.hopto.org/gallery/toys ). This is my first Y block and I would like to find out a bit more about the engine.
One thing I notice is that it seems to run rough at idle. The engine doesnt really vibrate but if you listen to the exhaust it sounds 'lumpy'. Is this a characteristc of the engine? Timing and all are set where they need to be.
The thing runs great, only has about 52,000 miles on it too.
Anything you think I need to know about these would be handy.
Yes, that is a characteristic of the y-blocks. The motor is running smooth but the exhaust note is lumpy right? Thats perfectly normal in my book. Right guys? -4speed

That is what I thought and that is what I have.
Couldnt figure out why I couldnt smooth it out...thanks!
