Hello,
I've got a 2005 Lariat 4wd supercrew. the bushing in the bottom of the struts are worn, does anyone know if its possible to replace just the bushing? seems auto parts stores only sell whole struts.
thanks in advance,
New struts aren't that expensive. Might as well put some fresh ones in there. I just picked up a couple of KYB's off of Rock Auto for $119.99 (part # SR4077) and new rear shocks for $36.79 (part # 344415). I'm VERY happy with them.
Would be curious as to replacement and cost. No doubt looking at this eventually with our 2007 4x4 with nearly 170k. Got an estimate for preventative replacement a while back and was surprised at the cost.

Check my reply a couple of posts up the list. I put part numbers and prices from Rock Auto for quick struts and shocks for a Gen 11 F-150. Quick struts are relatively easy to replace yourself, since you're replacing the spring and all. There are plenty of how-to DIY videos of the process on YouTube.

If you have the tools to do it yourself then do it. Most places won't let you bring in your own parts, but mine did. I did not have a torque to get the 300ft/lb required for the bottom strut bolt. Most places TBH, you are looking at around $400+ just in struts, and they will probably use cheap monroe struts that will more than likely fail. Guarantee most places will find "loose steering", quote you on tie rods, ball joints, obviously an alignment... pretty much any steering component. At your mileage, if it has not been done, it probably should. Easy $7-800 for all shocks/struts, tie rods, ball joints and alignment, at a shop. May as well have em throw in a PS flush too. A proper one.
