I saw some pics a while back where someone has added 2 12v outlets in the dash center storage tray. I searched all over for them but couldn't find the thread or instructions. I have my cell phone and backup camera mounted up there and would like to be able to eliminate the power cords running down. Anyone have a write up on this or know how to do it?
I just did this. Ordered 2 outlets off amazon. Drilled the holes with a step bit I had laying around. Ran the ground to a post under the dash tray and 12v to the kick panel with the fuses . passenger side. in there fuse 37 is for the heated steering wheel. micro2 fuse. get a fuse tap and hook your 12v there. Amazon has the fuse tap. I had to fish the wire down from the tray using a wire fish tape.
I didn't want a wad of cords up there and I knew I wasn’t ever going to be unplugging the cord so it was easier just to hardwire the cord under the tray and stub it out through a grommet with just enough slack to get the job done. The other end is tied into an upfitter switch.
