Hi all, just bought this vehicle in UK auction. Any idea what engine is that?? The title says 1956 Ford F100 with Cadillac V8 4200cc, but as Ive done the research, Cadillac has never produced V8 4200cc engines.
Wow... that is quite the rig! Not sure on the engine other than it clearly looks carbureted. Looks like somebody grafted a late 80s/early 90s mercury or lincoln grill onto your 56 ford. For the record, 1956 ford f100s are very desireable, as they have great lines and represent a single year model... but most folks prefer a period correct/stock grill.
Welcome Honza.
That is some truck! Love the color. Something is amiss in the engine specs. 4200 cc (4.2 liters) is only 256 cubic inches, and Cadillac never made an engine that small, with the smallest current being 365 cu in beginning in 1965. It is likely a 390 or 429 series engine because of the distributor location, or remotely possible a 472 engine that was introduced in '68.
I think the clue to the engine lies in what year that Cadillac grille is.

Reason: Grille.

You know, the more I look at that grill, the more I'm thinking its not a (US market...) ford or gm product. Doesn't seem to match any of the big sedans from the late 80's to early 90s for the cadillacs, grand marquis, etc.
Is that the fuel fill cap sticking out behind the drivers door? Odd for a 56 cab, which had the fill on the other side and raised about even with the door handle.
