Generator experts?
My new Arctic Fox 990 has the Onan generator but I have a Champion 73535i 2000 watt inverter generator with only 1.4 hours on it. The Champion is very quiet and I will be using it as soon as I can figure out what is wrong with it. The Onan is loud and I wanted it for my hunting trips where I am the only person around for many miles.
I am a mechanic and this thing has me baffled. It is 5 years old but has only been run 10-15 minutes a year. I have cleaned the carb 4 times, the idle jet, the spark arrestor, the plug, set the valves, changed the oil, cleaned the filter and completely drained/flushed and refilled the fuel system.
It runs perfectly after 8pm and before 11am. Anytime in between those hours and it will run rough on high (although it will idle on eco mode) and will stall anytime a load is applied. I can see the stepper motor trying to idle the motor as it sputters up and down. But in the cool evening or early morning it runs perfect. It idles up and down as it should with a load applied.
Champion is even sending me a new carb to try even though I lost my receipt long ago. I wasn't expecting that!
Anyway, I am sorry if this is in the wrong forum but I thought if anyone had interest in the small inverter gen sets it would be this forum.
