hey guys,
I have a front clunking noise. It's coming somewhere from the front suspension. If I back up a steep driveway it makes this sound worse than any other position. I mean if I give it gas then let off, then give it gas and let off when backing up this driveway. Of course I lubed BOTH of the grease fittings under the front. It kinda pisses me off that they only have 2 grease fittings. Where do I need to look and do I need to get a greasing needle to grese those hard to grease boots? Thanks for the help.

I just greased everything that had a boot on it and ALL of my squeaks stopped cold. I applied a small amount of silicone over the hole I had to make and everything is fine.
Hey Jeremy, Thanks for the info. How would I go about checking the anit-sway bar linkage sleeves? Do I just grab hold and try to shake it back and forth? I think that could be it. Also how would I check the trackbar and control arms if it isn't the anti-sway bar?
-Landon
Well.......mine come loose enough for the to move them with my hand (the did before I replaced them)......however, if you unbolt them, you will able to pull out the sleeve inside the bushing. If this is your problem, tightening the crap out of them will be a temporary fix, but they will eventually get worse and need to be replaced. For something as minor as this, though, I wouldnt go to a stealership.....I'd look for some straight ones a local junkyard.
Well when I was under my truck the other day checking my u-joints, I did notice some play in my transmission. When I was checking my front u-joint on the driveshaft I noticed this. I could actually move the transmission up and down a little. How much play should there be? Thanks Jimmy. If the mounts turn out to be ok then I will definitely check the anti-sway bar and tighten the crap out of them.

hah! Good call lxman1. I only have 1 transmission bolt! I tried to get a new one in there but it is really tight. What would be the best/easiest way to get that bolt in that tight spot?
-Landon
By the way I was thinking of putting a jack under the tranny and taking the tranny mount beam out to put it in. Then mount the cross beam back in.
-Landon
That will work.......just make sure to support the weight on the tranny/t-case. When I pull my t-case skid I usually jack up the bellhousing to support the weight.
Ok guys. I got the bolt in and no more clunking noise. Man I am glad I did. The bolt that was still in there was a little loose. I went ahead and replaced both bolts. Thanks for the help guys.

Nope no locktite. Didn't really think of it til after the fact. I am gonna definitely keep an eye on them and throw a wrench on them everytime I change my oil.
