I've been down the connector thing ,dielectric ,tape on the connector all were temp fixes.the real issue as I see it now is the trucks brake controller ,when I Am coming down in speed and a exit from the highway you can watch the brake force in a bar graf some times goes blank works and goes blank again, Ford will say being the truck and trailer in so we can ck it .
Any ideas would be great F250xlt 6.2 4x4 2017
Thanks
I've seen the bar graph when you squeeze the manual trailer brake levers but I guess I'll have to look at that same screen when applying for the service brake . Thank you.
I have a 2019 6.2 purchased in December that was doing something similar (but different). Went on one trip, no problems. Got the trailer inspected. Went on second trip. When towing, I would get a "trailer disconnect" warning on the instrument cluster. Noticed that the trailer brakes would surge and release. Unplug the trailer, and reconnect, it would do fine until you tested the brakes with the brake controller, in which case you would see the bar graph spike out then go flat and the alarm would go off again. Limped to where we were camping and started testing connections. Figured it was some type of ground fault. Couldn't find a thing and started having a serious case of buyer's remorse - figured I had a bad controller. Hooked a buddy's trailer up and didn't have an issue.
In the end, I pulled the emergency break-away switch and plugged it back in. Solved my problem. Apparently something did not seat properly when it was tested during inspection. Do you have access to another trailer that you could plug in to isolate whether it is an issue with the trailer or the truck?
