Starting this thread to cover the basics on swapping Excursion bodies. My wife has a 2000 7.3 Excursion, it is a great truck but has been subject to a life of Michigan salt. We want to keep it around for a while so we had to adress the body. Had thought about just fixing the rust myself but decided against it. Started thinking about doing a body swap kind of jokingly until I found this truck. Pucked up the white Ex for $500, it is a 2000 limited 2wd V10. Body is in great shape and only has light surface rust. From what I have read, a body swap is pretty extensive. Including stripping the entire cab and modifying the fire wall for hydroboost. Figure it will be worth it and while the body is off I can clean up the frame/etc. Will certainly have some questions a long the way, that is why a build thread is convenient.
The white Excursion is just starting to get some surface rust underneath. No holes anywhere in the body though, overall a 99% (Michigan standards). Also makes for the perfect time to undercoat it.
Can't wait to follow along.
What do the inner rockers look like ?
More pics please.
As an excursion owner , I have spent the last 2 months going over many parts of mine. ( My wife currently hates me for it)

Inner rockers are in good shape. A little bit of surface rust but it all flakes off easily with no holes. Plan on cleaning all of it up and coating it in Chassis Saver. My F350 looked just like this. Used a wire wheel to knock off the loose flake and it was ready to coat. 3rd picture looks worse than what it is.
