Excursion fair price

Hello everyone I was debating on selling my 2002 7.3 4x4 limited Excursion. It runs great and has no rust 370k miles. Looks good with some aftermarket parts plus new parts. But is in no way perfect. What would a fair asking price be. Ive seen prices all over the place. I don’t have it listed anywhere as of yet.
i think that 10k is a fair asking price. I’ll probably list it for that. Any opinions to high to low? Tha

nks

Just a little preventative bud-nipping, to make sure the thread doesn't get deleted, but please remember....

  • Personal Items For Sale . For Sale items are not allowed in the automotive and general discussion forums of FTE. This includes placing ads or links to ads in your signature. We have a Classifieds section that you can list your items in. Want ads are allowed in the forums so long as you post a follow-up when you find the part(s). Vehicle value discussions are permitted, however, if we find it turning into a for sale thread, the thread will be removed. The only exception to this guideline is the Chapter Forums. There is a specific thread in each Chapter Forum, for Chapter Members only, that is intended for local for sale items.

That's my PSA for today.

Stewart

PS - Nice looking rig! Hope you get a fair deal.

I paid $9400 for pretty much the same truck, minus any aftermarket improvements, Arizona rust-free truck with a well-organized binder of maintenance records and 248k on the clock. I was happy with that, as was the seller.

I like your updated front end, that is sure to turn some heads and increase percieved value. The 370k is going to scare a lot of people, it just depends what mods and maintenance have been done. When you do advertise, I'd be highlighting how recently the injectors, water pump, HPOP system, and transmission were serviced or replaced so knowledgeable buyers don't pass it by - the illogically outsized proportion of the car-buying population that assumes every vehicle spontaneously disintegrates at 100,001 miles won't even read the ad past the mileage figure.

Thanks for the reply. I haven’t listed anywhere and was just trying to get a rough idea. I wasn’t trying to list it here. Sorry if it sounded that way. Thx again.

Nope, you were great! However I've found these threads seem to invariably cause others to ask about the rig (instead of answering your questions) and it will ofttimes go down the road where it starts to sound and smell like a sales thread. So I try to not assume that won't happen, and I post my preventative PSA.

The 100,000 mile turn off is such a true statement. Most “ good” diesels are just broke n in at 100k. But sometimes that’s when you can snag a good deal, heck a good newer gas engine that’s had regular maintenance will go over 200k.

Just my two cents: 10K is a fair price, but if you list it at that, you'll only get offers around 8K.

In your shoes, I'd list it at 15, and let someone "lowball" you down to 12k.

Lol. Thanks for the reply. You are probably right. I guess asking what you want for something would be foolish. I’ll probably list it for 11,000 for some wiggle room.

Personal opinion, depending on more details.....

$9-10k sounds fareto me. Most will want to talk you down, so the suggested bump of $12k is spot on imho, way better than those who start off asking $16-20k and wonder why it is still for sale a year, or more, later.

I don't mind a little haggle, but I think most people hate doing it. And of course the pricing has to start at a point that have more people stop than keep on looking.

NO rust or dents , pretty much updated with new grille and LED headlights and LED's thru out
Also had new Apple Car play radio with bluetooth and backup camera...
Interior leather with no rips or scratches or wear
Maintenance was PROACTIVE...
Replaced stuff before it broke down...
Ball joints, starter, fuel pump, ICP, IPR, radiator, batteries, alternator... You name it...
I Just got tired of pumping money into an old truck...
Put an ad in AutoTrader and sold it in 3 days @ asking price...
Make no mistake..I loved the truck
It changed our lives...
But, after 18 years it just didn't owe me anything any more...
Bought a used 2016 GMC Yukon, for about twice what I got for the Exc.
Nice thing about the Yukon, is it's NOT a Diesel...
No loud cabin noises....I can actually talk to my wife in the passenger seat and she can hear me...
Gas milage about the same, but cheaper price per gallon..
Oil changes cost 1/2 as much....
Bottom line, the Yukon is cheaper to run, with maintenance costs...
Love ALL the bells and whistles though..
And the Wife loves it more....

So I might need to ask around 12 I guess. I just replaced the alternator and starter, have a Bluetooth radio with dvd, new tires and ball joints this month. The interior front seats are worn but have nice covers. It has a ts6 position chip, wicked wheel, 4” exhaust. Ive resealed the hpop and oil cooler, it has a Hellwig front sway bar, air bags in the rear, and no rust. The body is in good shape except for a dent under the passenger side tail light. Ill list it next week with more details and pictures and put a link on here. Thx for all the advice.

Sounds like a nice diesel wagon, be sure to list it in the Marketplace here on FTE. Folks that will see it there know Ford trucks and what a find a 7.3 EX is.
