1993 7.3 idi turbo diesel engine swap advice
I have a 1951 ford f6 with a flathead 6 motor that has been a fun project. I have been looking for a diesel motor to swap in and stumbled across a guy with a wrecked 1993. Radiator has been damaged beyond repair but he says the engine and transmission are still good. Does anyone have advice or things to look for before I go out and take a look. He is asking $1000 for the whole truck. Currently with 200,000 miles. If anything, does it give me a decent motor to rebuild? Thanks for any help.

The Image I posted is not mine, But I do own a 93 F250 with an NA 7.3L IDI ... just posted the F5 to say it can be done
BTW 200,000 is not a high mileage on a 93 the odometer will go to 399,999 then over to 300,000, it don't roll to Zero and don't go to 400K.
I sold my 83 F250 for scrap and got $950.00 for it not running with engine locked up due to Cavitation, so I guess a Grand is not a huge asking price, I gave just over 2K for my 93 back in around 2005.
I have the E4OD tranny on my 93 and love it........ guess what I'm saying is you can get your 1K back out of that 93 and still have the engine and tranny.... IF you have the automatic you will have to consider IF you are gonna run with it or not... and IF so then you need the PCM, PSOM, and the VSS to make it shift right.
I guess there are some aftermarket Tranny Controllers too....
