Died at stop light
i know this is a long shot but background to this is that this was the first “hard” trip I’ve put it through. Basically 107 degree humid Texas heat, 40 hwy miles to Galveston, then 20 stop and go miles in traffic on the island to sit at idle at a house for 25 minutes but as soon as I got in the oil gauge bottomed out and bounced back within 2 seconds and the temp was normal on the gauge, although it rose “higher” to the M in “normal” ( usually sits steady on the N) while parked running at the house.. I then drove another 15 miles back across the island where all of a sudden she shuttered and stopped at a red light. Oil gauge bounced then bottomed out and boom she’s dead. I got it cranked but it struggled like my battery was low or the starter wasn’t getting enough juice but it fired and I made it the remaining 5 miles to Walmart. Any way after the trip inside Walmart in Galveston (I left it running the whole time inside for 15 minutes) I came out and drove her back home 45 miles mixed highway and city miles and it seemed fine.
i know this is probably a long pointless ramble post but it had me worried. I thought I was down to a changing rear tires balancing the front, doing fluid change in the trans, changing the pushrod cover gasket and valve cover gasket change and I was good. This little set back has me concerned.
any ideas, I didn’t see a check engine light but tomorrow I’ll hook up my cheapo code reader to see if it turns up anything.
