Used 2017

To those of you who have bought used 6.7's 2017-2018 (if any), what has been your experience? Good or bad. Any mechanical/technical issues after purchase? How many miles is too many miles? lol.

Mine has been positive. I didn't have any issues other than new car type issues. But my truck is a '17 that had 1079 miles on it so it was basically still new.

I've had mine 2 years but only put about 23K miles on it. No warranty issues yet.

I bought a 2017 F350 long box, with 30,000 miles on it a year and a half ago. It now has 66.000 on it and has been absolutely flawless. I've driven it 3,500 miles to northern Idaho and back, bear hunting. I've put 8,000 miles pulling my 16,000# camper and thousands pulling other trailers. I had a 2004 F250 which I bought new and the difference between the two is night and day.

I have 58,000 km on mine mostly towing our fifth wheel and apart from tire valves leaking, it has also been flawless.

I haven't read about any systematic issues with the engines or transmissions: 6.7 + 6R140 is one of the best combinations ever. You can search on death wobble and read some on that old chestnut. Moonroofs are probably the weakest link on the truck. But, generally, there's nothing to be wary of here. Test drive what you're looking at, cycle speeds and road surfaces, make sure the electronics work, and exercise the hell out of any moonroof (listening and feeling for any friction, grinding, etc.).

I bought a 17 with 25k on the odometer back in November 2018. I have 48k now and it’s been pretty a trouble free truck mechanically. Had a front camera issue and a sync issue but it’s all resolved now. Needs some tires lol

I bought a 2017 f250 ccsb 6.7 base lariat with very few options with 25k miles on it and now have 72k on it. Only real issues I’ve had with it were something near drivers side rear cylinder head started leaking oil around 60k. Fixed under warranty, and the batteries took a **** at about 50k. I’m hard on brakes so I’m due for pads/ rotors now and I changed pads only at about 35k miles. Other than that I’ve changed the oil and air+ fuel filters.

Not sure how it is in your area, but I too was searching for a 17 or 18 used and the used prices were only $6k-$8k less than new. Figuring the interest rates were much better on new, and the warranty starts now instead of 2 years ago.. I went new. Just wasn't worth the "possibilities" of getting someone else's lemon.

Bought a 17 f250 May '18 with 34500 miles. It now has 59000 miles. I had the fuel tank replaced under a TSB (it was supposed to have a 34 gal tank but came with a 27 gal tank). Had the DEF tank heater and water separator water sensor replaced under warranty.

I have about 52000 miles on a 17' 450. Flawless, not one warranty issue (or for that matter any issue).

Thanks for all of your responses, I'm glad that most of you have had really good luck. I've seen some really good deals on a few, but they were those "if it's too good to be true, it probably is" deals. And same goes for me in my area, it's worth the few extra k's to get new (for warranty purposes).
