My 2000 Excursion 7.3 died on the road and will not start. It tries to start, stumbling and will start very rough then die. I bought Torque Pro and a dongle. Added a c&c sync pid, now what to do? Very new to working on diesels. Just point me in the right direction is all I ask. Don't want to just throw parts at it and hope for a fix. No fault codes.

Reason: More information
Since yours is a 2000 watch the tach and see if it comes up ever so slightly while cranking. If it doesn't you need a new CPS, the latest version is the dark blue one as the gray one caused contribution issues on cylinders 3&8.
The other issue is if your UVCH or Under Valve Cover Harness has become loose or disconnected. This would also exhibit the start-rough idle-stall you're experiencing. This will require you to pull the valve covers and remove the harness that's built into the valve cover gasket. Check for burnt pins and replace with Motorcraft and Motorcraft only. The Dorman ones seem nice, but cause more issues than they solve. Ask me how I know...
Thanks for the reply.
I replaced the cps a couple years ago, not to say it isn't bad, I know they are known to fail.
The tach will jump as soon as I start to crank. RPM jumps around as long as cranking. As soon as I let off the key the motor dies. I noticed the hpop is around 1865 and I think that is a default. Most likely the ICP is bad. Unplugged it and noticed oil under the plug.
I am out of town now but will run a full diagnose with torque pro on my return Thursday.

Unplug the ICP and see if the truck starts, if it does, you can at least drive around until you replace the sensor. It needs to be replaced regardless, but you can atleast run the truck. It'll run off default values.
Finally got some readings to report.
EBP 15
FP 0.0
HPOP 3062
IPR HIGHEST 44.1
RPM 476
Since my last post I have changed the following.
IPC
IPR
CPS
BUZZ TEST all seems good.
No change in the no start condition.
Judging from the scan I need to look at the fuel delivery. Fuel filter, fuel pump?
I have ordered a fuel pressure testing kit that will be here on Wednesday.
Will tap into the pressure side of the fuel pump on the frame under drivers seat.
Does this model also have a pump in the tank?
