Im getting ready to get rid of the cable style speedo and replace it with a vss. I have a 77 f250 4x4 with a c6 married np205. So does the vss go into the transfer case? And has anyone done one?
Yes. Depending on the style of the VSS there are some that simply accept your existing speedometer gear with the same clip-on style, slip into the same hole in the t-case and away you go.
Assuming of course that it's the proper unit for your new digital speedometer that is. Even still, there are some instruments, such as the Dakota Digital that can be programmed to work with other brand senders. Usually you just buy the one for the gauge, and opt for the one with the right gear interface if they offer it.
What are you planning to run for your speedometer?
Im running this one.https://www.intellitronix.com/produc...bargraph-panel
They asked me what I had and sent me the vss . But you just answered my question . I need to you the gear on it, that is way it was throwing me off. Because the vss did not come with a gear on it. I get it now. thank you
Cool. Yep, should slide right on.
You'll likely still have to run through the initial setting/calibration procedure with whatever method they use (with Dakota, you usually travel a measured mile, pushing a button then pushing it again when you reach your mile. Done!
