Hi guys,
I;m looking into gauges while we have the truck apart. I was thinking of going with glow shift but as I was reading around I swear I ran across something where a guy said he didn't trust them and wanted something "better".
So my question is, how do you guys like yours? I'm assuming "better" means more reliable.......is there generally known ranking out there of best to least reliable? I don't wanna save $50 to never trust them but don't wanna pay $500 more to know my boost is 23.8 vs 23 if you get my drift.
In my opinion, spend a little more and get quality ones, such as Isspro, Autometers, Stewart Warner. Having said that, I have the Glowshift ones in my 97, and I don't care to much for them. The oil temp one is the only one I don't have a problem with. The EGT gauge is hit or miss sometimes, and the boost, I don't think it is to accurate. But that is just my opinion.
I bought a bunch of glowshift gauges. I've ran oil temp, water temp, fuel pressure, trans temp. 1 failed, 3 were inaccurate. I've had boost, egt, both were accurate. Not a good percentage. I won't buy another. Cheap, but evidently made the same way. The 4 that were bad have all been replaced with autometer.
If you have the money go simple and install this, it will read most engine parameters and supports troubleshooting and plugs into the OBD2 port. A pain to program but works great after that.
I did a lot of shopping for gauges for my 6.0 and couldn’t decide because I wanted to watch everything. I finally went with DashBoss, It plugs into the port under the dask and connects via Bluetooth to my iPhone. On 1 screen I can watch my
Boost
Battry Volt
Turbin Speed
Diesel EOT
Speed MPH
RPM
Coolant Temp
Trans Temp
Instant fuel Economy
Intake air temp
Gear selection
Fuel level
All these in either digital or analog
It will also run diagnostics, read codes, and lots more,
I love it, and it cost less than $200.00

I went glowshift because when I bought them, I was hard for money and needed something to watch the vitals on my truck. I think they match the gauges very well, and are pretty easy to read. Accuracy is not something I can comment on, but I feel that they are consistent enough to know where "normal" is and if it is above or below normal, I should look into it. They serve the purpose I have for them, and none have failed yet (3 years later) so I guess they are doing ok in my book.
