Trailering camera system for 2020
I've watched several reviews on the new Chevy trucks and they all seem to like the new camera system and how it works for towing. Wondering if Ford will respond with some upgrades in that area and what it takes to make the system work. Would a rewrite of the software result in similar functionality with the existing hardware, or is there a lot more to it than that??? Thoughts?

It appears the GM system will be much more flexible. The Ford trailer mounted camera is an option that sells for $375 (msrp) for just the camera and $725 for the camera and the tire pressure monitors for the trailer. When I looked at getting the camera I decided not to do it as it only worked in reverse. I like to see what is going on behind our fifth wheel so that wouldn't work for me. It appears the new GM trailer mounted camera will work full time if selected. It also has a see thru selection that somehow makes the trailer disappear and you see what is behind it. I think there are 15 views that can be selected. The Ford system is okay for what it does. I especially like the back up centering lines for hooking up my boat, the front and top camera views for parking and the cab stop light mounted camera for hooking up my fifth wheel. Going down the road it really doesn't have any functionality as it appears the GM may have. I'm not sure how it will work with a fifth wheel.
The other thing GM has done is offer screw on tire pressure monitor's for the trailer. Four of them is a $50 option.
