Question No throttle response while driving???

Hi all. I'm having a very strange problem with my baby. She starts fine, takes off with no problem. But sometimes when I'm going down the road my speed starts slowly dropping. If I give it more gas, I get no response. The RPM's don't go up, the speed doesn't go up, the sound doesn't even change. Then after a few seconds everything seems to kick back in. I've pulled the codes... there's only the normal EGR code that's been there for years. The only odd thing I can find is that when I was under the truck the other day with the key on, I discovered my O2 sensor was very hot. The truck had not been run yet that day. I'm not sure if this is normal or if it has anything to do with the other. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

O2

Sounds like maybe your Cat(s) may be have an obstruction. If you are running a 2 cat system it may be that your pre-cat is getting stopped up. Bring it up to temp and see if one cat feels considerably warmer than the other...and pull the codes to see if your O2 sensor is faulty.

Thanks Seabisquit. I have pulled the codes though, and I'm only getting the same old EGR code. Hopefully it's not the cat, since it was just replaced in november of last year. Is there any way of checking it without disconnecting it?

You need a vacuum gauge and hook it to a intake vacuum source. With the engine warm check the vacuum reading. Now run the engine to about 2500 rpms just until the the vacuum reading levels off and holds steady. You should see at least a couple of points higher with the 2500 rpm reading. If it dropped or stayed the same you have an exhaust restriction. I have headers on my 1990 351 and it jumped 5 points higher.

Where should the stock level of vacuum be, and what is best for power/mpgs?
