Hi I have an 87 Ford F250 with a 302 5.0. Every time I shift into 4th it acts like it's dragging behind on getting up to speed. Any ideas why that might be happening I think it has the t18 or t 19 transmission it's a four-wheel drive.
Have you had the truck awhile, or did you just get it recently? Did it start acting this way all of a sudden, or has it done it all along?
What differential gear ratio do you have in the rear, and what size tires are you running?
Do you have a tachometer?
Normally with any transmission you would feel the lack of power in every gear if your tires were too big for the diff gears. But maybe your engine has enough power and the manual trans gear ratios are just enough that in the lower gears you don't notice it as much? Then, when you shift into top gear you really feel the mis-match.
What other modifications have been done? To the engine and chassis and brakes basically.

Good luck.

Everything on it is stock for what i know. I just bought it aboit a month ago and it only bogs in 4th. the tires are stock. Could it be the transmission?
F250 4x4 with only 302? Ya, I bet it's a bit lazy in 4th gear, especially in town. Read the door tag and find out what axle code it has. I really doubt it has anything to do with the transmission. That 302 was not much of a powerhouse back then. Is it EFI or carb? In that time frame I think was the transition and could get either? My '89 was EFI.
