will this work

Will a 2002 Escape Auto 4x4 trans work in a 2001 Escape auto 4x4? Should I bring the transfer case with it? I have heard several different ideas about this - some say it will fit/work, others say it will not.

Should be an identical trans and PTO (aka the transfer case) assuming they are both V6’s or both 2.0 I4’s.

The V6 and I4 mount the starter motor in a different place which implies a quite different bellhousing.
