hard starting on 96 psd whenwarm
I havebeenhaving a hard time getting it started after it warms up
have put new glow plugs in it module and relay as well as the timer are all working fine it will start when it has been sitting over night
does not appear to have any more blow-by than normal and is not using any oil or smoking thought possibly might be the lift pump but i do not want to start throwing parts at it in order to get it to start when it is warm i have to wait for glow plugs to cycle and give very small shot of starting fluid then it will fire off and run fine i did however notic a light surge at idle when it starts before this problem occured any suggestions will be greatly appreciated
Typically, if a PSD starts fine cold, but harder when warm, it means the IPR (Injector Pressure Regulator) o-rings are bad. When the o-rings go bad they allow oil from the High Pressure Oil system to leak back, thus requiring more crank time for it to replenish the oil to actuate the injectors. Cheap fix ($30 or so) but a little messy to do. Let me know if you don't know what the IPR is and I'll try to find a link for the repair.
The only thing I can think of.
Good luck.
