hey all, been resurrecting a 1994 E-350 ambulance with the 7.3 IDI motor.. replaced the glow plugs, fuel return, filters etc and it finally runs.. however there is a fuel leak at what seems to be the input from the lifter pump maybe? its coming from the bottom of the connection to the pipe. (pic attached, circled area)
this connection seems to be soldered or fused in some way. my thought here is to cut the pipe off and put a new 90 degree with a barb and use hose + clamps.
is this connection high pressure? (I cant imagine it is)
I'm sure it's not coming from anywhere else, its def from under this connection..
yeah it's only a few PSI from the lift pump....... use a Line Wrench and a wrench to hold the fitting..... Magilla Gorilla must have worked on it last time.
9C387 is the partial part number for the little rubber seal in that nut (commonly referred to as olives around here). They dry out and harden with time and leak like yours is. No need to swap to rubber hose, it’s just time to replace the olives. Soak the new one in fresh fuel and then snug the nut up. There will be a few threads showing on the fitting but it’s a compression seal; no need to tighten all the way.
The rest of the olives after the filter head are partial number 9K260, a little smaller than that one.
