I recently got the engine swapped out on my 1995 f150 5.0 as I was test driving it I noticed it was sputtering between 40-50 mph. The sputtering will go away as soon as it gets above 50mph. It has new fuel injectors new fuel pumps new pressure regulator new plugs and wires new maf... Bunch of new parts and sensors.. I took it back last week. The "mechanic " basically told me he can't really find what the issue is. But that he suspects it's the timing chain...thats another $200 for labor .... Hopefully this great community can help me out... Thanks for yall's time and advice.
Run your diagnostic test. This man uses a jumper wire, you can just use a paperclip. I suggest you watch the entire video and then do the test so you have a good understanding of how to diagnose your truck without the "MECHANIC". Just do the key on engine off for now. Let us know what codes you get. Sandy

You did the KOEO test engine off You put a new o2 sensor in correct. Have you run the key on engine running test?
The o2 sensor was put in before the engine swap. But yes the test was done with engine off. I have not done it with engine running.. Didn't know you could do that
OK now we are in business. Watch the video for instructions and try that. Sandy
La Bluebonnet is still at the shop... After I told the "mechanic" I'm not giving you no more money you told me it was a good motor that's why I bought it.. He was like give me a call on Monday I'll see what I can do...

I understand. If you would like to know what I would do, let me know. Sandy
Based on your history with him and the timing chain suggestion, that would concern me. I would tell him whatever you deem necessary to get the truck back for a day and run your engine running test. Fuel is also mentioned in the code possibilities, Depending on the results of your diagnostic EOER test, I would be ready to do a quick fuel pressure test. Depending on those things you can decide to take it back to the mechanic or not. I had a very similar situation with a trans rebuild. Sandy Good luck on whatever you do.

When I first picked up the truck he did tell me it had low fuel pressure, but it has two new fuel pumps...

Not being a smart A** but it didn't fix itself. Unfortunately many folks have put in new pumps and other parts that never worked properly. It is a common problem with the offshore products.. The problem is the Motorcraft pump is so expensive. It is natural to think because it is new, it is good. Not the case. I have installed several SPECTRA pumps with success each time. If you find you need one, get it locally so you can return it immediately if it is no good. There are four bolts and the lighting connections that hold the bed on. Three or four guys can easily take the bed off for easy access to both pumps. It is easier than dropping the tanks for the project. Always try to use Motorcraft parts if you can.
It is difficult to find someone that will work on these older trucks and finding one that knows what they are doing is harder. The reader and the Haynes and Chilton manual and mainly this forum have saved me countless dollars and endless work. There are a lot of guys on here that have forgotten more than I will ever know. That's why I'm here, to try and give back what little I can. Sandy
"he did tell me it had low fuel pressure" I would add this to my list of concerns since he let you take it knowing this. . Sandy
