I filled up my front tank completely today, and it does not register at all. To see if it was a problem with the guage I filled up the rear tank and it registered full. So my problem is in the front tank senor I would imagine. Besides using the rear tank all the time, does anyone know how to fix this problem?
Try driving on the front tank for a while and see if it starts registering at some point. You could have a dead spot on the sending unit. I've had that happen. If not, maybe the wiring or the tank switch.
Well I've driven on it for about 75 miles and it has only left the E once, it bouced to 1/4 then went back to E. Does this mean the sensor is bad? I guess I will just use the rear tank from now on.
I would check the wire connections on the sending unit.I had the same problem.I pulled them off and noticed a lot of corrosion i guess from moisture.I cleaned them up ,connected them back ,and that solved my problem. It is worth a shot.I hope it works for you because it is never fun having to drop the tank.
When I replaced the sending unit in one of my tanks I somehow bent the little finger in the level sensor. The odd thing was that it was a completely open circuit and the gauge would go to all the way full instead of empty like you would think. So considering that it shows full when open, I'm guessing there's a short to ground or power (can't remember which) somewhere for the gauge wire!?!?
