Hi stric, according to my book the 8th digit in your vin# will be the engine code. You will see the letter-N- porbably, that is the code for 5.0 LT 302 CDI or 4942 CC, MFI. There is a engine ID tag under the ignition coil att. to the bolt also. According to my book the HP. is 185@ 3800 RPM. and torque is 270@ 2400 RPM. this is for enging code ( N ) in vech. vin tag

Starting in 1992, the 5.0L truck engine used a roller camshaft. The '88 through '91 engines were roller compatible blocks, but were fitted with a flat tappet camshaft. The '92-'93 roller cam had the same specs as the previous years' flat tappet cam. In 1994 engines the 5.0L truck engines roller cam had these specs : 198 intake/200 exhaust degrees@.050" and .422" intake/.448 exhaust valve lift(with 1.6 ratio rocker arms). Horsepower for pre-'94 engines was 185(net)@3,800rpm/270 lb./ft. of torque@2,400rpm. The 1994-1996 engines had two ratings: 199(net)@4,200rpm for automatic-equipped trucks, and 205(net)@4,000rpm for those trucks fitted with a manual tranny.Torque rating for the '94-'96 engines was 275 lb./ft.@3,000rpm
