Don't mean to hijack but tge same thoughts going through my head. BUT I want to retain my 2bbl 2150. Is that possible or will it negate the intake up grade?
I would imagine that it wouldn’t if you got the right intake. I was looking at the Edelbrock 2171 model until I realized it was for a 4bbl. I think the 3771 model is correct for my setup.
Depending on where you are, there are probably lots of people like me with a perfectly good stock intake for sale cheap.
But if you want, the Edelbrock 4bbl intake is a nice design and they sell a low-profile 4bbl to 2bbl adapter that does just what you need.
If you're using and keeping an EGR plate, I believe they even have a 2bbl w/EGR adapter.
Pretty sure that's the one I've got for when I do my smog checks.
With a stock 351/400, a 4bbl is a waste of time and money unless gas is a cheap commodity to ya. The 2bbl carb and manifold are the go to Best of the best on a stock motor.
If you throw a cam, headers and other goodies on it, then yes a 4bbl will be an improvement.
