Hey all, need a little guidance. Spotted a decent *****'s along the road today. Wife thought it was cool and seemed on board so I pulled an immediate U turn. Sorry I can't post pics right now but here is the long and short of it
Good, body and floors look very straight and near rust free. A few surface rust areas, but VERY solid from what I could see. Not banged up or looking like it was pulled from a field. New seat cushions and covers, looks like original steering wheel and dash. Bolted on roll cage around the entire perimeter of the cab. Winch up front. Windshield and frame look 100%. Military tires and tread look 90%. Didn't get underneath. Axles have been rebuilt (seals, U joints, etc. Lockers in both axles).
The Bad, spoke to the owner on the phone and got this, the frame is tweaked (Hood doesn't fold quite flat). Said the frame is very solid, but had been "bumped". He has a spare frame to go with it, straight, but not quite as solid as whats under it. Needs brake line work (not a big deal to me). Has a Ford 2.3 in it currently. Said it started 10 years ago with 30 psi oil pressure but would dwindle to 10 psi when it warmed up. So, it needs either a new long block or a pump at minimum. Said he has a spare 2.3 Ford that came out of a sprint car and has extra HP (Don't really want it, not needed on a ****** anyway). So, it needs an engine, brake work and time on a frame machine.
Comes with a spare frame, axles a few other spare parts. Realistic values, what would you pay? Good deal??
Hey all, need a little guidance. Spotted a decent ****** (no apostrophe) along the road today. Wife thought it was cool and seemed on board so I pulled an immediate U turn.
Which ******-Overland model is this, Jeep, Station Wagon or Jeepster?
Sorry, looks like a CJ-2A jeep. I am no expert and don't know what parts are period correct or not other than what "looks like" its 70 years old. As in it has the 3 or 4 shift levers sticking out of the floor. I now what a military dash looks like (has that). As for fenders, etc. They could have been replaced 10 years ago and be chinese repops for all I know. I do know they were solid. Had a spare mounted on the tailgate, a jerry can in a holder (spout was made of 1/2" black pipe though).
