but my truck gvwr is 14k and one of my trailers for example is 12k. On the other hand, another of my trailers is 20k. Both are fine generally, but some states will require cdl ....becuase in some states 10k trailer is the limit
i don’t see a problem with truck gvwr+trailer gvwr being less than truck max tow as long as the trailer tounge weight is less than the truck payload weight.
so when can I tow a 34k trailer....anytime the tongue weight does not exceed my available payload numbers.
The general consensus seems to be that you'll run out of cargo capacity long before you run out of trailer capacity.
Regarding the the trailer limit for CDL, there are a few threads on that and I think the topic has been well covered there. The bottom line is most states exempt RV trailers from the strict CDL limits.
...Based on the window spacing and slide, the trailer appears to be Zinger ZR285RL or K, which has a dry weight of 6521lbs (or 6570lbs for the rear kitchen version). ...
Late to the game, but based on the fridge vent and hood fan vent placement on the back, I'd say it is the rear kitchen version, which would make it the ZR280RK floorplan. Based on the specs, that reads out as 6660 Dry, 2950 CC, 9610 GVWR with a dry hitch of 808 lbs for the 2019 model. The 2018 specs are 6570 Dry, 3040 CC, 9610 GVWR with a dry hitch of 808 lbs. Both just shy of 33'
Either one of those dry weights is over the loaded weight of our 29' TT, that maxed out my Ram 1/2 ton with just trailer and me.
Im not sure why they derate them so much, but on my 2018 at work the sum of the axle ratings are 1300 lbs higher than the GVWR. They are always higher, but not usually by that much. The GVWR on them is so low that pretty much any trailer puts them over.
