I have a '94 Bronco with a 351 with 157,000 miles. My serpentine belt broke. I drove 4 blocks, until the temperature gauge went to the top. Tranny fluid started boiling out the filler tube, as well as coolant from the coolant oveflow container. I stopped two blocks from home. Walked home, got another vehicle, got a new serpen
tine belt and installed it(an hour later). The engine started up, ran cool, but tranny fluid still boiled out of the filler tube. So I had it towed home for $50 for two blocks. Do I need a rebuild ? The tranny never slipped or shifted rough before this, as on my '90 Bronco E4OD before it needed a rebuild.
You tranny experts, please let me know your thoughts. Auto trannies are the only thing I haven't rebuilt on vehicles.
Thank you,
Elton
Maybe you boiled too much tranny fluid out and now it's low.
Mine started to boil out through the filler tube and when I Stopped and checked it, it turns out I was WAY LOW on fluid and it was foaming out. I topped it off and all was well. Mine was low enough to foam but not low enough to cause shifting problems.
Just a guess though, is your fluid level ok? Is it shifting rough or slipping now???
