You need 800 CCA. People seem to like the Optima red tops, and they are on sale at Summit Racing for $85 each through the end of the month. You will need an adapter, but I understand that if you call Optima, they will send the adapter for free.
You can also look at Diehard Gold (South). They tested out best in a Consumer Report test 1-2 years ago. They actually tested out a hair better than the Optimas. Both did very well in the test.
I've always used Interstate batteries with no problems. They make several different batteries for our trucks. At work we use the Workaholic series which have a higher CCA rating and they've lasted for 2 years so far. Our temps average 105 in the summer (116 the highest) and 35 in the winter (20 the lowest).
I'll second the Die Hard Golds. I've killed every battery that came with my last 4 vehicles in the Tucson heat. The Die Hards are the only ones I've had that doesn't have to be replace every 1 to 2 years. I finally just gave in and replace perfectly new batteries with the Die hard Gold as soon as I buy the vehicle. ( I am hard on batteries through so take my advise with a grain of salt)
I used to swear by Interstate..I had them in four vehicles and two in the travel trailer but I haven't had much luck with them for the last couple years.. I switched to the Maxx-1 at Walmart.. They have a 9 year warranty with a three year replacement ..I think I paid $60-65.00 for one in the Jeep... I've only had it since January so I can't personally recommend them yet....I bought their big deep cycle for the trailer last week to replace the two Interstates.....The two in the diesel are Interstates and are about two years old .. No problems yet..
I think it cooled down to 95* today didn't it ? :~)
